Mission

Friends of SOMA Springs is dedicated to the preservation and protection of SOMA Springs and Shipley Lagoon, the most ecologically diverse acre of land in San Francisco. As a vital natural habitat, SOMA Springs is home to a rich variety of fish, mammals, and bird species, offering sanctuary to local wildlife and providing a crucial watering stop for migratory birds each spring and fall. Our mission is to safeguard this unique ecosystem, promote responsible stewardship, and ensure that future generations can experience the beauty and biodiversity of SOMA Springs in the heart of the city. We are committed to educating children and the wider community about the importance of environmental conservation, fostering a deep connection to nature, and inspiring the next generation of environmental stewards. Through advocacy, community engagement, conservation efforts, and educational programs, we strive to maintain this irreplaceable natural resource for the benefit of both wildlife and people.
